As you may have heard, STAAR 2025 will be a little different due to the new TEKS.
Don’t let details about the STAAR test bog you down! Science Penguin has got you covered! Here are the main facts you need to know about this year’s test: There are 32 questions, with 39 total points. That means that 7 questions are worth 2 points.
Question types include: multiple-choice, multiselect, multipart, hot spot, drag and drop, and short constructed response.
No more than 75% of the test questions are multiple-choice.
The science STAAR covers many 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade science TEKS. This year is a “transition year”, which means that TEA has adjusted the tested TEKS to be different than what we are used to. The tested TEKS next year will be different.
Your students may see extra field-tested questions that will not count toward their score. They will not be able to identify these as being different than other questions.
The test is taken online, but students are allowed to use scratch paper.
Science Penguin has created the ultimate 10-day Science STAAR Planning Guide to help you prep! We’ve scoured resources from TEA and adjusted our materials to fit exactly with this year’s tested topics to maximize your review.
