In this post, I’m sharing two activities you can do with your young students from Science Day: 32 Investigations for K/1.

Rainbow Day!St. Patrick's Day Science Activities Mix up some colorful fun.  All you need is some paper towels, food coloring, and cups of water!

Key Ideas:

  1. We can perform an investigation to find the answer to a question.
  2. We can make predictions.
  3. We can record our observations.
  4. Combining two primary colors forms a secondary color.

St. Patrick's Day Science ActivitiesBlow your kids minds with this chemical reaction.  Just combine blue baking soda with yellow vinegar.

Key Ideas:

  1. We can perform an investigation to find the answer to a question.
  2. We can make predictions.
  3. We can record our observations.
  4. We can write a conclusion with the answer to our question.
  5. Matter can change.

  1. What a fun and creative way to incorporate science into one of the upcoming holidays! I really like how the worksheet that accompanies the experiment requires students to form a hypothesis, make observations, and develop a conclusion. This experiment is very versatile in that it can be used for a variety of grades – I think all students kindergarten to sixth grade would have fun with this! Thank you for sharing such a hands-on way to learn about chemical reactions! 🙂
